Gastronomy

Most restaurants are located in the picturesque Płock Old Town. You can eat not only tasty food but also very varied. Some restaurants offer a special menu at lunch. Apart from restaurant you can also find numerous pizzerias, cafes and pubs.

The menu is dominated by traditional Polish cuisine with sour soup, red borscht, pierogi and pork loin with cabbage, but you can also try other dishes - of Mediterranean, Asian or Jewish cuisine. "Arturo" offers Italian cuisine, "La petite" specializes in pancakes. At the time of large music events, which take place in the summer in Płock the restaurant is open 24 h/day. "Karczma pod Strzechą" is famous for its pierogi but also serves Mazovian specialty-white horseradish borsch or duck blood soup. In "Art Deco", "Salonik" or "Staromiejska" we will also eat Polish style dishes, e.g.duck in orange-honey sauce or knuckle of pork. The lovers of the Jewish cuisine must visit "Estera". Here, in the menu we can find, among others, kreplah, potato kugel and mefarka. Beer enthusiasts are welcome to "Browar Tumski", where freshly brewed, unpasteurized and nonfiltred beer is served. It is brewed in historical 350 years old cellars. Restaurants in the "Tumski" and "Starzyński" hotels tempt us not only with their tasty cuisine but also unrivalled views on the Vistula River at the bottom of the Tumskie Hill. From there we can admire the most beautiful sunsets, perfect for those in love.

In the evening clubs and pubs, the majority of which is located at Grodzka Street and Narutowicza Square, come alive. In Kawiarnia Artystyczna "Czarny Kot" ("Black Cat" Artistic Cafe) or the "Rock'69" pub or "Estera" restaurant you can listen to live music. During great music events such as Audioriver, Pożegnanie Lata (Farewell to Summer) or Cygańska Noc (Gypsy Night) --you can also listen to live music in the unique scenery at the beach near Vistula River.
